Using Your Personal Insurance
Your personal auto insurance may cover rental cars. Before relying on your own coverage:
- Check with your insurance provider about rental car coverage
- Understand your policy's deductible and limits
- Note that filing a claim may affect your personal premiums
- Some policies only cover domestic rentals
Many credit cards also offer rental car coverage as a benefit. However, credit card coverage is typically secondary to your personal auto insurance and may have restrictions.
